Are you married? Do you believe that marriage is work? I have been married going on 2 yrs and I can say, that marriage is work. Marriage allows you to see not only the flaws, weaknesses and strengths of your Spouse but your own. I remember praying before I got married about my future Spouse and now that I’m married, the praying hasn’t stopped. Some Spouses think, for some reason, that you stop praying when you’re married but when you keep in mind that the enemy was after you in your singleness, so he’ll be after you in marriage, you won’t stop praying.
Somethings I’m learning in marriage, is that where I’m weak my husband is strong and where I’m strong my husband is weak. For example, most people may not know that my husband is good at dissecting the word of God when we have bible study time at home. My husband has a way of seeing things I don’t see in the scriptures. He’s a Teacher at heart. I believe that to be his gift. However, I don’t catch on to the scriptures as quickly as he does most of the time and sometimes, I will look at the scriptures as if I just read a confusing riddle . I’m being honest.
I can remember during premarital counseling that our Pastor told us, “Marriage isn’t for the selfish. ” Boy was he right. If I’m honest we had selfish moments and my husband and I try our best to continue to see marriage the way God sees it. Marriage is about teamwork, respect, being loyal, being honest, being truthful, being faithful, friendship, love, honor and the list goes on.
In closing, there’s more I can say on marriage, but I’ll end by saying this, even though marriage takes work, it doesn’t mean it’s not worth it, Marriage is a beautiful thing, especially when we see marriage the way God does.
“What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.- Mark 10:9
